MICHAL INDRAK
I’m a London-based film director and producer. My work moves between narrative fiction, experimental shorts, and found-footage documentary, built around structural precision and emotionally resonant storytelling.
I wrote, directed, shot, and edited Whispers: Waves of the Diary, which won Best First-Time Director at the Ottawa Film Awards alongside a run of further international festival recognition. My psychological sci-fi short Replaced is currently in festival submission. I’m now in development on Ashes of Courage, a WWII feature inspired by my own great-grandparents’ experience in Nazi-occupied Slovakia.
TRAINING
I studied Film and Media Practice at Birkbeck, University of London, and hold directing and cinematography certificates from Raindance London. I founded and serve as President of the Birkbeck Short Filmmaking Society, where I run live sets and coordinate crews for student productions.
BACKGROUND
Alongside my film work, I bring a background in operations and compliance — including UK Visa & Immigration processes, international placement logistics, and AI data evaluation — which I draw on for the production planning and budgeting side of filmmaking. I also run my own production label, LEVM Studios, currently in soft launch, through which I produce and direct independent narrative work.
